Well now one of the credit card companies are coming after me,I received a certified letter from my local court with 28 days to respond,I am a stay at home mother of three with still no income,the debt was in my name not my husbands,and he refuses to help,he was not aware of this debt,I have no bank account,but my name is on the deed of our home also
Since his and my name is on the deed will they put a lien on our home,his name is on the debt?We live in Ohio
I have no money to file for bankrupcy or get a attorney,I tried to call the attorney for the credit card company to see about making small payments on this debt of 4500.00,they will not call me back
Will I be able to represent myself and tell them I have no income,and my husband only makes enough to cover the bills
What are the chances of them going after my home,will they make me sell

My Discovered card has offered me a personal loan to pay all of my credit card debt on one bill. They quoted me 12.9 % @ a fixed rate for a $20,000 loan. Well, my credit card rates range from 8.7 to 10.9 (variable). Discover told me that even though the rate is higher I would be able to pay off my debt faster. And any additional money paid would go straight to the principal. And my credit score may increase because I would free up my credit card debt. But I don’t know. Right now I am paying the min on my credit card bills @ $550 a month and the Discover loan would be $540 a month and I would have my debt paid off in 4 years. What do you think ?

Letter from student loan debt collection agency states they will be investigating the person’s financial resources to find the funds to pay the debt. Can they take the money out of the person’s bank account via garnishment in the state of North Carolina, with no court order? What about future social security income-can they take that? thank you

Should be specific to Ontario Canada. Also payments are being made on this (bank credit card) I fell behind for three months and they sent me to this law firm to collect, but this law firm is threatening they want the full amount paid off even though I am making payments every month now, they want more money per month which I cannot afford(financially very strapped) OR they are threatening for me to pay in full or they will sue me and make me sell my home to pay off this debt. If I let them take me to court while still making my payments conistently do I even have a leg to stand on? Don’t know what to do…

We have a gas guzzling 2004 Impala, worth between $9,500-10,000 (trade-in value). We owe $14k on it. I know for a fact that we can have this, as well as all our other debt, paid in full by the end of this year, while my husband is in Iraq.
However, with gas the way its going, ($70 a tank) we are pretty sure we have to switch to more efficient car. We’re considering a used Camry Hybrid (somewhere between $25-30k)

My question:
Is it worth paying off the Impala in full, and then trading it in for a used Camry? I think because we’ll be debt free we could get a better deal.

Or should we trade the Impala in now and still channel the money we would have used to pay off the Impala (the $14k) into the new Camry that we get? Before we are debt free?

Would you pay off 2700.00 on a car loan at 4.9% and 300.00 a month for approx. 9 more months or 3,300 in credit card debt at 8.9%?

We send approx. 80.00 a month over the scheduled credit card payment each month.

My wife says keep making the car payments as others will see we make all our payments on time and then add more to the credit card debt.

I say pay off the car, free up 300 a month and add a bit more to the CC, and send that payment also to the credit card debt.

We are considering one or the other to free more money up per month since I am not getting a raise in 2009.

I have a little over 14 thousand in debt, not including my car note. I been paying off my debt little by little but I just want to be debt free once in for all. Do i just need to pay more money, or does John Cummuta give you amazing advice or a real program?
